So, you've just got engaged...yay!
The first thing to do is soak it all in. Enjoy the moment of spreading the good news to family and friends and revel in the newness of calling them your fiance(e)!

OK, so now what?
Firstly, you'll need to discuss a budget. There's no point heading to Pinterest and Instagram if you have no idea of your budget. According to Hitched, the average UK wedding costs £17,300! Planning your wedding finances helps to keep things on track and easier to manage.
Once you're set on a budget, contact all suppliers that have caught your eye while having a browse. The earlier you get in touch, the earlier you can cross it off your to do list. Many suppliers are booked up in advance so if you've really got your heart set on a particular florist/photographer/MUA, reach out to them asap!
Get organised and think about guest numbers. You might want to invite Great Aunt Mildred and your 87 cousins, but maybe your spouse-to-be wants a more intimate affair. Try to compromise and listen to each other's reasoning. When thinking about who to invite, remember it's your big day and you can't please everyone!

Look into wedding styles that you both like. Are you into a classic, chic wedding? Or maybe you’re more of a rustic, laid back kind of couple? Once you’ve discussed your style, it will make everything else SO much easier as you’ll be able to look at themes, and what suppliers fit your theme.
Set a date. As eager as you might be to tie the knot, the reality is that weddings can cost money. Booking a date further into the future may seem far away, (but it will actually FLY over) will give you more time to chip away at expenses.
You can then send out your save the dates - whether digitally or physical cards - to make sure your guests (Great Aunt Mildred?!) have the date reserved. It’s a good idea to do this early if your guests will need to book overnight stays the night before/night of your wedding.

These are the main things to do as a newly engaged couple! Good luck and keep an eye out for tips on what’s next…
