"Moisturise baby!"
Having worked as a bridal makeup artist for 4 years, I’ve had a lot of questions from brides in terms of what they can do to prepare for bridal makeup.
Here’s some points to consider to prepare your skin for your big day.
Water, water, water. I’m a big advocate of water in general. As someone whose skin breaks out and gets really dull when I don’t drink enough water, I know all too well the importance of skin hydration. It’s amazing for your skin. Good makeup is only as good as it’s base. If the skin underneath your makeup is in tip top condition, it’ll shine through the makeup. Get that H20 gang!

Get a good skin care regimen going. Personally, I’m getting married this September and I’ve just invested in some skin care to get a good routine going. I personally recommend the Inkey List (not an ad and not affiliated). The best thing about this brand is it tells you what order you should be applying products! Sometimes it can be overwhelming, so it’s good to keep it simple!
Think about the time of year you’ll be getting married. If you’ve had your trial in January and your big day is July (or your hen do is in Benidorm the week before your wedding!), think about how much you’ll be going out in the sun. If you have a tan by your wedding day, your foundation will need to be adjusted to match your skin tone. I recommend SPF every day, even if it’s cloudy but even more so during the summer months. You don’t want to be blistered or flakey on your wedding day!
If you’re going to self tan before your wedding, moisturise baby! Along with getting into a good facial skin care routine, getting into the habit of applying all over body moisturiser is a great idea too. Future you will thank you for it!

Get your face mask game going! One particular face mask I always recommend to brides is No7’s Nourishing Hydrating Mask (not an ad and not affiliated). This is so good for thirsty skin and gives a gorgeous glow with regular use.
The bottom line is that you are beautiful and you will look beautiful on your big day. These are just a few tips to give you an extra little glow!
Happy planning!
